Level 1: A no frills trail starting from BU Campus to Dodda Alada Mara (approx 32kms) is perfectly suited for newbie’s.
Dodda Alada Mara, literally translated to Big Banyan Tree, is a giant 400 year old Banyan tree located in the village of Kettohalli. It’s a favourite getaway place for many Bangaloreans because of its proximity and since it’s enroute to Mysore, it is just a slight deviation and a stop away for many. The beauty of the place is further enhanced by the Savanadurga hill and the backwaters of the Manchanabele reservoir, which form the backdrop of the tree.
For a beginner, it cannot get any easier to start their cycling journey than try this trail since by elevation profile it is not too daunting and the roads are predominantly good (80% tarmac roads). The serene surrounding is easy on the eyes and all those trees provide you enough shade to cover from the direct sun light. Most of ICYCLE’s regular patrons, who have now scaled to higher levels of cycling, started their endeavour with this trail.
The cycling trail to Dodda Alada Mara takes the route starting from BU (Bangalore University) – Kengeri Upanagar – Ramohalli Village – Dodda Alada Mara and back again to the starting point at BU covering a total of just 32 kms.
This trail (Cycling to Dodda Alada Mara) is a Level 1 cycling trek covering an approx 32 kms of cycling distance with a cost of Rs. 450/- (Includes: Breakfast, Refreshments, Mechanic Support, Support Vehicle, Helmets, Mentor Cyclist & Medical Support) (if any).
